This article will explain the differences between the full and simple Point Of Sale (POS) terminals that are available in the system.
The above image is captured from Setup > Sales > POS Terminals. Click the link labeled whats the difference?.
Simple POS TerminalRequirements - A Master Admin or staff type with permission granted "Can access POS Terminals". Pros - Allows any user that has been granted permission to access this version of the terminal at anytime. A great solution for taking payment on agreements away from the front desk, or for taking payment on past dues, etc from the managers office or remote location like the corporate office. Cons - No cash drawer. Does not restrict access to a single user for balancing/auditing.
Full POS TerminalRequirements - Any user needing access to the full POS must be granted access through the POS users tab. For these steps, click here. Pros - You can keep users accountable for what transactions are done during their shift with reporting. This POS can print physical receipts and open a cash drawer if you use the recommended Star TSP 100 thermal receipt printer and serial cash drawer. Cons - Only one user may be logged into this terminal at a time. Users have to perform the open and close POS process at the beginning and close of their shift. If the previous user fails to perform the close the drawer will need to be reassigned to where someone can complete the close process before the new employee can perform the open POS process. To learn how to re-assign a user, click here. There is no quick access to this terminal like the simple POS terminal.
Additional Note - Keep in mind it is possible to have more than one POS method for your club. You can create a full terminal at the front desk and then use a simple terminal for the managers office, sales office, smoothie bar, etc. One simple terminal could be used at all three of these areas at the same time. Hopefully this article will help you determine what will work and where within your club. |
