This article will guide you through creating a product category. Products can then be assigned to categories, making searching and grouping easier.

Requirements - A Master Admin login or staff type with the following permissions:

Setup - can access setup
Setup - can access product categories setup

Adding A Product Category

To create a new product category, go to; Setup > Products > Product Category > Create a New Product Category.

Editing a Product Category

Once a category is created, you may select the edit pencil next to the category to edit the settings.

Name - This is the name of your category.
This Category is Clothing - If this category is clothing you may flag it here. A default sales tax can be set for clothing specifically in your general sales settings.
This Category is Commissionable - If you wish to generate commissions off of product sales within this category, select here. To learn more on setting commission on a product click here.
Allow Discounts - If you will allow products with this category to be discounted, select here.
Choose A Parent Product Class - This allows you to make this a sub category.
Edit This Product Category - Click here to save your changes.
